ABOUT US |
In 1994, the co-founders of Gigared comprised the management of Tescorp, Inc., a NASDAQ-traded company domiciled in the US. Tescorp was among the first international companies to enter the Argentine telecommunications industry; and it executed a roll-up of cable television properties located primarily in the Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego and Cordillera regions of the country. More than ten acquisitions were consummated. Management implemented a disciplined plan of consolidating markets, clusterring operations into efficient units and standardizing policies and procedures. These efforts significantly improved operating performance, and Tescorp was acquired via public tender offer in 1998. Shortly after the sale of Tescorp, management founded Gigared for the purpose of providing a high quality telecommunications alternative to entrenched Argentine oligopolies. Robust HFC networks were constructed to serve four Provincial Capitals: Santa Fe, Parana, Resistencia and Corrientes. These individual markets were interconnected into Buenos Aires, the telecommunications nexus of Argentina, via a 1,100 kilometer fiber-optic Long Haul network; and central control was established in a carrier-grade, stand-alone Network Operating Center/Data Center located in Buenos Aires. Gigared was among the first in Argentina to provision the "triple play" of telecommunications services: cable television, broadband Internet and telephony. Gigared also provisions carrier-grade telecommunications services to other cities on its Long Haul network path including Rosario, the third largest city in Argentina. Additionally, Gigared holds licenses to build HFC network in Buenos Aires, Posadas and several cities passed by the Long Haul network in the industrial heartland of Argentina between Buenos Aires and Rosario. Gigared strives to provide a high quality, high value service for every budget. Management is fully committed to improving existing services, adding important new ones and contributing to the prosperity of the communities served. |
